Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026  Β·  Applies to VeloRadar for iOS 1.0.2

In one sentence: VeloRadar has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising SDKs. We keep no copy of your rides - only you do. The only network calls are to Apple (weather, maps) and, if you pick an OSM map, public tile servers.

Bike & Radar Data

🚲

Bike & radar telemetry

Battery, speed, distance, motor data, and Garmin Varia radar threats are read over Bluetooth and stay on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.

Location

πŸ“

GPS

Your location is used in real time for navigation, road grade, speed context, weather lookup, and ride history. It is never sent to us, because we have no servers.

πŸ”’

Screen-locked tracking

Always Location is requested only if you turn on Settings β†’ Ride β†’ Track with screen locked. It keeps the route, trip stats, Watch context, and Live Activity updated while the phone is locked. You can turn it off in VeloRadar or revoke it in iOS Settings.

Weather

🌀️

Apple WeatherKit

When weather is fetched, your approximate location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple's privacy policy applies. No other weather provider is contacted.

Maps

πŸ—ΊοΈ

Apple Maps (default)

Map rendering goes through Apple Maps. Apple's privacy policy applies.

🌍

OpenStreetMap / CyclOSM / OpenTopoMap (optional)

If you switch the map source in Settings, tiles are loaded from the corresponding public OSM tile server. Your IP and approximate location are visible to that server, as with any web map.

Apple Health

❀️

Apple Health (opt-in)

If you turn on Settings β†’ Ride β†’ Sync rides to Apple Health, each completed ride is saved as a cycling workout with its GPS route. Data is written to your device's Health database; nothing is sent to us. Off by default. Revoke in iOS Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ Health β†’ VeloRadar.

Storage

πŸ’Ύ

On-device only

Trip history, imported routes, settings, and paired-device IDs are stored locally on your iPhone. They are included in your encrypted iCloud or Finder backup. Uninstalling VeloRadar removes them.

πŸ“€

Export

You can export individual rides as GPX files at any time via the iOS share sheet. VeloRadar never uploads them.

What we don't do

🚫

No analytics

We do not embed Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other tracking SDK. VeloRadar makes no network calls beyond the weather and map sources listed above.

🚫

No advertising

No ads, no ad networks, no ad identifiers (IDFA).

🚫

No accounts

VeloRadar has no sign-in, no account creation, no email collection.

Your rights

VeloRadar is operated by an independent developer ("VeloRadar"), the data controller. Because your data lives on your device, you exercise your rights directly: access and portability by exporting any ride as a GPX file; erasure by deleting rides in the app or uninstalling it, which removes all stored data. We never sell your data or share it for advertising. For any privacy question, write to support@veloradar.app.
